We connect disconnected workforce platforms and layer intelligent monitoring to catch compliance issues before they become failures.
Meet Smartta, our first productThe Governance Gap
Not because systems are broken—because there's no governance layer connecting them.
Every organisation runs 5-10 disconnected workforce systems: HRIS, time tracking, rostering, payroll, credentialing. Each works fine independently. But compliance doesn't happen in any single system—it happens between systems.
When rostering platforms don't know who's credentialed, operations puts uncredentialed staff on shift. When time tracking doesn't connect to employment regulations, incorrect calculations flow to payroll. When managers override systems to protect budgets, violations happen without audit trails.
The root cause: Compliance failures aren't system failures. They're governance failures.
Traditional rules-based systems can't solve this. Workforce governance at enterprise scale requires real-time data normalisation across disconnected platforms, interpretive intelligence that understands complex labour regulations in operational context, pattern recognition across thousands of decisions daily, and continuous monitoring—not point-in-time audits.
Our Approach
Think of how Vanta transformed security compliance. Vanta doesn't replace your security tools—it monitors them continuously and proves compliance to auditors. Point-in-time assessments became continuous monitoring.
We sit across your existing stack, normalise the data, and layer governance intelligence that no single system can provide.
The result:
Organisations can prove continuous compliance across every operational decision their systems made—not just that they have good systems, but that those systems are being used correctly.
AI Readiness
The pattern is consistent: organisations invest in AI before their operational foundation can support it.
AI doesn't fix broken processes. It scales them.
When workforce data is fragmented across disconnected systems, AI amplifies the fragmentation. When processes aren't documented or standardised, AI automates the inconsistency. When there's no governance layer monitoring decisions, AI makes ungoverned decisions faster.
| Before AI can deliver value | Reality for most organisations |
|---|---|
| Documented processes | Processes live in people's heads |
| Standardised data | Five systems, five formats, no reconciliation |
| Consistent execution | Managers override systems for operational reasons |
| Governance infrastructure | Point-in-time audits, not continuous monitoring |
Most organisations skip this work because it's unglamorous. Executives want the AI announcement, not the data normalisation project. That's why most AI projects fail.
Smartcore isn't AI bolted onto broken processes. It's governance infrastructure that makes AI deployment possible. Before you can deploy AI safely, you need:
Visibility
See what's actually happening across disconnected systems
Normalisation
Standardise data so AI has clean inputs
Governance
Define boundaries for what AI can and cannot do
Evidence
Prove what the AI did, why, and whether it stayed within policy
Most organisations think they're ready for AI. Most aren't. Our diagnostic covers five areas: Visibility, Process Consistency, System Integration, Data Quality, and Audit & Evidence.

Take the AssessmentThe Infrastructure Layer
The AI orchestration and security layer that powers everything we build. Infrastructure that makes governed AI possible at enterprise scale.
Universal integration that normalises data across any workforce system—regardless of vendor, format, or update frequency. Pre-built connectors for major platforms with a universal data model that reconciles different field names, formats, and schemas.
Every new connector makes Smartcore more valuable. Every customer's edge cases improve the normalisation engine.
AI agents operating within defined boundaries—not just capabilities, but constraints. Configurable autonomy levels, policy-aware reasoning, and audit trails for every AI decision.
Governance isn't bolted on—it's architectural.
Cryptographic proof of every decision, override, and action. Immutable records with clear provenance—what happened, when, by whom, and why. Designed for litigation-grade evidence requirements.
Proving what happened is as valuable as preventing problems.
Leadership
Founder & CEO
Aaron has spent 20 years building enterprise workforce technology across four continents.
He co-founded Australia's first enterprise workforce management platform, which scaled globally and is now part of ADP Workforce. He then spent five years at PayGroup through its acquisition by Deel, working with enterprise clients across retail, healthcare, aged care, and BPO sectors in Australia, Asia, the UK, and the Middle East.
Across two decades, the same pattern kept emerging: compliance failures happening despite good systems. Organisations had sophisticated payroll engines, interpretation tools, and time tracking platforms—all working correctly. But managers still overrode calculations to protect budgets. Operations still rostered uncredentialed staff because hiring systems didn't talk to rostering systems.
The technology worked. The governance didn't.
That insight—that compliance failures are governance failures, not system failures—led to Smartplace.
Our First Product
